Janet Larsen is an environmental analyst working to connect the dots between climate, energy, water, agriculture, and security. She is a co-author of The Great Transition: Shifting from Fossil Fuels to Solar and Wind Energy, published by W.W. Norton in 2015. Janet led the research efforts of the Earth Policy Institute from its inception in 2001 until founder and president Lester Brown retired in 2015. Her research has covered a range of topics, from bike sharing and bottled water to food security, forest cover, and crop yields. Prior to the creation of Earth Policy Institute, Janet worked at the Worldwatch Institute. She has done fieldwork looking at salt-tolerant plants on the Chilean Coast and poison dart frogs in the Peruvian Amazon and continues to enjoy the outdoors near and far from her home in Washington, D.C.
